Swazi-Lizkhar Stud and Equestrian Centre was founded in 2003 by the Reilly girls - Mother Liz and daughters Kate, Ann and Robin. In fact the name Lizkhar comes from combining these family names together. The stud is situated in the magnificent valley of Ezulwini – the "mini Switzerland of Africa!" at the bottom of the famous Nyonyane mountains. Nyonyane translated is "little bird" and its fame came from King Bhunu who would march exiled prisoners to the top and push them off, one would've had to have been a "little bird" to have survived.
In the years since the stud was founded, there have been many changes and improvements, We are not only a Stud but a venue which hosts world class events and as such we are continually upgrading our facilities. We have hosted many FEI events such as the FEI AFRICA CUP and were part of the founding partners of this fantastic event. FEI AFRICA CUP has been held for Show Jumping and Vaulting and Swazi-Lizkhar was the first venue to host both.
Swazi-Lizkhar is a graded facility and has two jumping arenas, a dressage arena and lunging arenas. There are 64 stables including show stables which are available for the overnight stay during shows.
Additionally the stud has the facilities to host the following:
